OK, I'm not sure if this has been suggested before, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. This was inspired by the "New Campaign" thread and specifically legion_rat's post about wanting closure for GW1 toons, when moving into GW2.

I like the idea of having a final end for my characters too, so how about a BMP style pack to "finish" our game with? The way I see it working is this: there'd be a choice of at least 3 missions with different outcomes for your character. For example:

1. Last Stand - Your character is thrown into a battle they can't win and gets a cool, Palawa Joko style, cimematic death.

2. Into The Mists - Your character disappears on a kind of "Long Walk" (Judge Dredd) style quest, never to return.

3. Building The Academy - Your character helps establish a new academy for future heroes and lives out his/her life as a respected teacher.

^^^ Those are just thoughts on how the missions would end, I haven't put any into how they'd play or what you'd have to do.

I don't really see the point of closing off chars, unless it only becomes available after certain things happen (not titles), and then you get some kind of reward/compensation/award of acheivement or something. Btw, with 'Last Stand', the if the foes are easy enough for a regular player to last a few mins, SMS/Racthoh will find a way to beat it, but if you make it so abusively one-sided, people won't want to do it. Lose-Lose, unless your in SMS and desperate for an ego boost, but meh.

Once a mission has completed, your character would be "bronzed" on the title screen. The idea is that you wouldn't play that character anymore, but I'd suggest the game should offer an option to delete the final quest and re-activate the character, if the player changes their mind.
I dont like this part, but, I do like the others. It lets us know what happened to our chars. I can see my sin training new sins at shing jea. Heh if we had no party limit I think the number of players far exceeds the number of charr, we could beat their asses down and take over the charr homeland.

/signed for closure

OK consider it gone.

My thinking was that once you'd done a "final" quest, that would be it. But I didn't like the idea of completely locking the character away, so imagined that maybe it could be "re-activated", with the final quest nulled (and, if this wasn't clear, you'd then be able to do the final quest again and maybe pick another ending later on). But it was a bit fudged.

Thinking about this more - I guess the way it could work is exactly like the BMP, where the events are outside the "current" timeframe. So if implemented in GW1 it would be a trip into your characters future, and if implemented in GW2 it would be stepping into the shoes of your ancestor. Neither scenario would need to have any affect on continuing to play the character in question.

I could see you going on with a short cine. showing the char slightly aged maybe with a class of young students, teaching the way of your proff. Talking about teaching new heros to walk the path you have forged.

Very good idea, I would also like to see a set of prerequisites for this mission where a toon must finish a campaign or reach some milestone to become bronzed.

I actually like this idea, but I wouldn't want to actually lock my character. Although an epic last battle would be good times, I will still feel the need to log back onto my main and pine for the days when i could solo trap...

Easy: Last character standing. Have everyone compete in an ultimate survival match.

As for how this solves anything, it doesn't.

Ontopic: Depending on what class your character is determines the epic final fate. Character lock, however, isn't something I'd be willing to accept.

this should be a free sorrows furnace type update.

edit: my idea

A legacy's fulfillment: you character gets into one last battle with all the endgame bosses, lich(prophecies) the chinese dude(factions) abbadon (nightfall) great destroyer(eye of the north) those 4 bosses are re-risen by an evil spirit and your character and the 4 bosses are transported into the deepest territories of hell you fight them until you are killed, and 250 years later you vow to avenge your fallen ancestor meaning you have to kill them in one point in guild wars 2.
